Rennie, Tpr. Ross (24 Jun 23)

Fellow Horse Guards:

It is with much sadness, we share the news that GGHG Association Life Member and former Association Executive Member Ross Rennie, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 24th surrounded by family and friends. Prior to World War II, Ross was a Horse Guard Cadet and reconnected with the Regiment in the late 90’s. He served as the Association’s Health and Welfare representative and was well known for his dedication to taking care of the needs of our Veterans.

Although health issues had curtailed his involvement in Association activities, Ross stayed in touch by sharing his insightful political views with those on his sizable email distribution list  and publishing online each Remembrance Day, his poems dedicated to those who had served in the War. According to his daughter Susan, Ross’ health was in decline over the past few months, but he accepted the end of his life in true ‘Roscoe’ fashion, by requesting a beer and a cheeseburger before he left us.

On behalf of the members of the Governor General’s Horse Guards Association, I offer my deepest condolences to Susan and all the Rennie family and hope they find consolation in the many happy memories that Ross has left with us.

Interment will take place in the fall at a date to be announced later.
