Macdonald, Cpl. (Ret’d) Pam (29 Dec 23)

As we come to the end of another year, it is with heavy hearts that we learn of the passing of Cpl (Ret’d) Pam Macdonald on December 29, 2023, in Newmarket, Ontario. Pam’s military journey began with the Governor General’s Horse Guards Cavalry Squadron in the late ’60s, where she started as a civilian member. Later, in 1970, she officially joined the Regiment as a clerk, dedicating herself until 1975. Her commitment to service continued as she transitioned to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) as a safety systems technician, serving for 18 years in the regular forces. After her release, she joined the Toronto Police Service as a civilian dispatcher, contributing until her retirement in 2015. Throughout the years, Pam remained connected to the Regiment, attending numerous reunions.

Pam, who was the sister of Capt (Ret’d) Brian Macdonald, the current Vice-President of the GGHG Association, passed away at the age of 73. While funeral arrangements are yet to be finalized, we will share those details as soon as they become available.

In this difficult time, our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Brian and his family. May the cherished memories of Pam bring comfort and solace during this challenging period, and may they find strength in the love and support of those around them.

With heartfelt condolences,

Sgt (Ret’d) Colin Rowe
Communications Director GGHG Association
