In Memory
Lyons, William (Bill) (13 Jun 18)
Fellow Horse Guards:
Once again, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of GGHG WW II Veteran, William “Bill” Lyons on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga at the age of 95 years. Bill, who hailed from Sutton, Ontario, served with the Regiment in WW II and last attended the Annual Memorial Dinner in November 2013 but has been in poor health over the past few years.
It was during Bill’s attendance at the Memorial Dinner that some of us found out about his wry sense of humor and learned that he was a prolific poet. Fortunately for us, he donated many of his writings to the Association, which will be featured in future issues of Regimental Lines.
Sadly, his wife Sadie passed away a few years ago but he is fondly remembered as Uncle Bill by the family of John and Marg Oliver, including Michael Oliver (Stephanie), Jeffrey Oliver (Mary), and Denise Saunders and to them, on behalf of all Members of the GGHG Association, I offer our deepest condolences.
A private family service was held with interment of cremated remains in the family plot in Briar Hill Cemetery, Sutton.
Memorial condolences may be made at www.forrestandtaylor.com
