DeVogel, CWO Johan “Joe” Pieter (16 Jul 23)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of former Regimental Sergeant Major and GGHG Association Life Member, Joe DeVogel, on July 16, 2023 at the age of sixty-nine, following a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was proud to have served for three decades with Toronto Police Service, and the Governor General’s Horse Guards.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Patricia; children James (Rebecca),Amanda (Jake), Virginia (Michael), Charlene (William); grandchildren Madelyn, Travis, James, Annie, Deklan, Theodore, and Paige. He will be dearly missed by sister-in-law Lisa (Leo), niece Michel e (Vincent) and nephews Kevin and Jase (Kelly). Our sincere condolences go out to them on their loss, which is shared by so many of us. lucky enough to have served with Joe and have many fond memories of him and sharing laughs in the field or in the armoury. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.
Services will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home (3164 Ninth Line, Oakville). Visitation on Tuesday, July 25 from 5pm – 8pm, and funeral service on Wednesday, July 26, starting at 1pm.
