It is with great sadness we announce that Cpl Ricardo (Rick) DeCandido passed away peacefully on Thursday September 7, 2023.
Rick was born to Erika and Ricardo DeCandido (predeceased) in Toronto on January 4, 1965.
Rick spent his post-secondary years serving in the Canadian Militia Regiment, The Governor General’s Horse Guards, where he travelled extensively and developed his skills in engineering.
After leaving the Military, Rick became a respected and valued plastic injection mold engineer. His creativity, ingenuity and attention to detail was unparalleled. He participated in key projects and his particular engineering contributions resulted in successful design and execution.
In recent years he developed a passion for Model Railroading and created, designed and reconstructed intricate replicas of the New York Central Railroad. Rick was renowned as a Master modeler and his skill and craftsmanship earned him praise and recognition in the specialty magazine, Railroad Model Craftsman, first as a feature and later as an author and contributor.
Rick possessed many qualities…. kindness, he was professional and generous, to name a few. He loved taking long walks and reflection. The world has lost a very special colleague and friend. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial visitation will be planned in the near future.
