Mazza, Frederick John (6 May 12)

Age 90

Frederick John Mazza– WW II Veteran and Member of the GGHG Association, died peacefully, just shy of his 90th birthday, surrounded by family at the Niagara-on-the-Lake hospital on May 6, 2012. Fred was born in Toronto and served in the Canadian Army in the Second World War with the Governor General’s Horse Guards in England, Italy, and Holland. After the war he returned to Canada with his English war bride, Jean, joined the Toronto Fire Department, and raised twin sons, Ronald and Robert, in the house he built on Toronto Island.

Retiring from the Fire Department in 1970, he moved to a new home he built in Cannington, ON, and in 1980 relocated to Niagara-on-the Lake, where he has resided for the last thirty years. Fred is survived by his wife Jean at Upper Canada Lodge long term care facility, his sisters Millie and Betty and his son Ron (Pam).
