Hatton (Boles), Mrs. Carol Anne (9 Sep 24)

Fellow Horse Guards,

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Carol Hatton on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Bethell Hospice, Inglewood, at the age of 85. Carol was the beloved wife of former Horse Guard, Sgt Gary Hatton, who served during the memorable days of the 1960s in the Cavalry Squadron and the GGHG Riding Club alongside Sergeants David Mezzabotta and Jeff Dorfman. She leaves behind her sons, Christopher Hatton and his wife Shannon Morris-Hatton, and Joe Hatton and his wife Angela.

Carol was a remarkable woman, actively volunteering in every community she touched. She contributed her time and energy to causes such as the Kids on the Block puppet troupe, The Canadian Club, and The Ladies Auxiliary for both the 420 Wing in Oshawa and The Royal Canadian Legion in Orangeville. Her ties to The Governor General’s Horse Guards and The Ontario Regiment endured even after Gary’s passing. Beyond her dedication to her community, Carol had a profound love for the theatre, participating as a member of Oshawa Little Theatre, Whitby Courthouse Theatre, and volunteering at Theatre Orangeville.

To Christopher, Joe, and the entire Hatton family, on behalf of The Governor General’s Horse Guards Association, we extend our heartfelt condolences. Carol will be fondly remembered by all those who shared in the friendship and camaraderie she and Gary cultivated within the old Riding Club.

Visitation, followed by a brief service and interment at Thornton Cemetery, will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa).

A Celebration of Life will take place on October 20, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Orangeville Legion (7 John Street, Orangeville).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Ladies Auxiliary of The Royal Canadian Legion, Orangeville. Online condolences may be shared at www.armstrong.

Sincerely,

Sgt (Ret’d) Colin Rowe
