GGHG Hosts 2014 Garrison Ball
April 4th, 2014

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, horses trot into the Liberty Grand. The annual Toronto Officer’s Garrison Ball took over the Exhibition grounds last Saturday, with all of the pomp and circumstance associated with military tradition. Recognizing the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Italy in the Second World War, the green-white-red themed gala was hosted by the Governor-General’s Horse Guards – the most senior armoured reconnaissance regiment in Canada. With Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher M. Stewardson in command, the evening kicked off with a charming accordion player in the pre-reception, and a bugler who sounded the call for dinner. The Honourable Bill Graham, honorary Colonel of Governor-General’s Horse Guards, gave opening remarks followed by Lieutenant-General Marquis Hainse, the Commander of the Canadian Army. After dinner, the pipes and drums of the 48th Highlanders led guests to the after-party where officers let their guard down and had some fun in the photo booths. Read the Article
