Davidson, Sgt. Colin (18 Aug 10)

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sgt. Colin Davidson, former Riding Master and Instructor of the Governor General’s Horse Guards Cavalry Squadron and Member and former Vice-President of the GGHG Association. Colin passed away on Wednesday August 18, 11:00 p.m. at the Scarborough Centenary Hospital after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Colin will be remembered as one of the founding instructors of the Cavalry Squadron from the 1950’s, and a very strong supporter of the Association since the transition within the Association back at the old Denison Armoury. He was so proud of those “glory days” when the Cavalry Squadron fielded as many as thirty or more horses for a Royal escort and his love for all things cavalry was very deep.  Colin showed this love for the Regiment to the very end of his life and many will remember his valiant effort to march with the Association Troop at our last Change of Command parade.

To his wife Shirley and all his family, we send our deepest condolences and he will truly be missed by us all.
