Walker, Lt. Col. George (15 Aug 15)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of LCol George Walker after a hard fought struggle with cancer. He died peacefully on August 15, 2015 with family present at Hospice Residential in Windsor at the age of 69 years and maintained his wit and sense of humour until the very end.

George lovingly dedicated his life to The Windsor Regiment Family, and most recently, it’s Association as well as The Commissionaires. He came up through the ranks was embedded with the Governor General’s Horse Guards for a portion of  Summer Concentration 1973 as a Troop Officer. (We ran a couple of blended WR and GGHG Troops that summer as the WR’s numbers were low). He is survived by his daughter Ashley Lynn Berressford Walker and The Regimental family mourns with the Walker family during this difficult time.

Ashley, along with his family invite you to celebrate his life at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Banwell Chapel), 11677 Tecumseh Road East in Windsor, Ontario on Wednesday, August 19 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers at 4:30 p.m. A Service under the Auspices of the Windsor Veteran’s Memorial Service Committee will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Peace Lutheran Church, 14985 Rossini Boulevard in Windsor on Thursday, August 20 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow. All are welcome and encouraged to attend as we say farewell to our departed Commanding Officer.
